William E. "Bill" Tubbs, 83, of Gibson City, peacefully passed away at 9:22 am Monday November 29, 2021 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. Visitation will be held 10:00am-12:00pm Wednesday December 8, 2021 at Rosenbaum Funeral Home in Gibson City. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 12:00 noon. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
Bill was born August 16, 1938 in Nashville, Illinois. A son of William and Marie Grubbs Tubbs. He married Sarah L. Harrison on October 21, 1956 in Geff, Illinois. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-five years Sarah L. Tubbs of Gibson City. Two dedicated daughters - Charlotte (Paul) Beeler of Bumpass, Virginia and Alice (Merle) Jones of Gibson City. Four grandchildren Clint Beeler, Wesley Beeler, Casey Duke and Brandi Jones; and ten great grandchildren Abby, Kitty, Talan, Landon, Camden, Haven, Amia, Jasmine, Carter and Mariah and a great great granddaughter Octavia. Also his sister Melba (Danny) Kenshalo of Fairfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Harold and sister Loretta.
Bill worked for the highway department repairing the roads, he worked for Illinois Bell telephone company and worked as a plumber for thirty-two years, twenty of those years as owner of Gibson City Plumbing. He then ventured out and started Precision Plastics in Gibson City making and inventing many things. He was a proud sponsor and supporter of many area racers, including Kevin Weaver, Gary Nettleton, Bob Pierce and Tom Meents. At one time Bill was a Bass Pro fisherman winning many tournaments in Illinois and nearby states. Bill was active in the community, he was a member of The Gibson City Lions Club, The Moose Lodge, The Gibson Community Hospital Advisory Board and was voted Gibson City Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the year in 1995.
