Toni Steele
Toni L. Steele, 64, of Bloomington formerly of Sibley passed away Sunday September 3, 2023 at 6:55 a.m. at her home in Bloomington. Her funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday September 8, 2023 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Sibley. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions can be made to the family.
Toni was born July 2, 1959 at Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul a daughter of John and Dora Keown Messmore. She married Michael Steele on August 16, 1984 in Paxton.
She is survived by her husband of 39 years Michael Steele of Bloomington. Two daughters Sara (Paul) Salinas of Warrenton, VA and Joy (Joe) Wenslauskis of Heyworth, IL. Her ten precious grandchildren Dillon, Lucas, Andrew, Wyatt, Collin, Dawson, Samuel, Ean, Cadence, and Dominique. Also surviving are seven siblings Patsy Croy, Lynn Messmore, Darrel Messmore, Carol Moore, Teresa Winget, Chris Blair, and Rita Messmore. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandson Stephen, two brothers Jim and Dennis Messmore, and her sister Diane Messmore.
Toni graduated from Melvin-Sibley High School in 1977. She was a soil lab testing technician for United Soil Service in Fairbury and most recently worked for GMS laboratories in Cropsey. She was an active member of the Sibley Methodist Church where she participated in bible studies, Women of Faith, and mission trips. She loved to read and participate in book clubs, and flower gardening. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and family, especially sharing her favorite movie Wizard of Oz. She loved when she got to have family and friends over for Sibley 4th of July celebration. Toni will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
