Susan Kiefer

Susan Kiefer, 70, of Paxton, formerly of Champaign, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday June 21, 2023 at Accolade Healthcare of Paxton on Pells. A private burial will be held at a later date.  Rosenbaum Funeral Home in Gibson City is assisting the family. Memorial contributions may be made to The National Alliance on Mental Illness or to any Education fund for Indigenous Children.

Susan was born on April 15, 1953, in Urbana, Illinois, the daughter of Clifford B. and Shirley M. Anderson Kiefer. She grew up in Champaign-Urbana and graduated from Centennial High School in 1971. Susan was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother, Bruce.

Susan courageously battled two debilitating conditions for most of her adult life, while maintaining a pleasant disposition.  She was an avid reader and was keenly interested in the study of cultures around the world and in learning the grammar and vocabulary of a variety of different languages.  She collected Bibles and prayer books in many languages, and she looked forward to the Sunday services at Accolade.  She had a heart for indigenous children.

Susan is survived by a brother, Jerry Kiefer, and a dear friend, Ann Kruse, of Saline, Michigan.
