Shirley M. Heiser, 86, of Gibson City formerly of Fisher went to be with her Lord and Savior at 1:17 am Thursday March 10, 2022 at the Gibson Area Hospital – Annex. Visitation for Shirley will be held 10:00 am- 12:00pm Monday March 14, 2022 at the Gibson City Bible Church. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 noon with Pastor Kevin Heiser and Dr. Paul Thomason officiating. Burial will follow at East Bend Memorial Gardens in rural Fisher. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gibson City Bible Church.
Shirley was born July 11, 1935 in Dixon, Illinois. A daughter of Clayburn and Louise Plock Sigel. She married Melvin J. Heiser on September 3, 1955 at the Gibson City Bible Church. They were the first couple to be married at the new church when it was located at 6th and Melvin Streets. Surviving is her husband of sixty-six years Melvin J. Heiser of Gibson City. Five children Kevin (Sherry) Heiser of Loda, Lance Heiser of Fisher, Lisa (Bruce) Culbertson of Holly Springs, North Carolina, Brian Heiser of suburban Los Angeles and Kerrie (Eric) Spitz of Fisher. Twenty-two grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. Also, two brothers David Sigel of Tennessee and John (Gayle) Sigel of Rock Falls. She was preceded in death by four siblings Harry Sigel, Barlow Sigel, Martha Hillison and Dale Sigel.
Mrs. Heiser was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She not only raised her own children she also helped raise her three younger brothers. After raising her children to school age, she entered the medical field as a registered nurse for thirty years. She lovingly took care of countless patients at Gibson Area Hospital and Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. She will be dearly missed and we look forward to the blessed hope of seeing her again in heaven.
