Sandra Edmonds

Sandra J. Edmonds, age 77, of Gibson City, IL passed away peacefully at 11:52pm Saturday, September 16, 2023, in Chandler, AZ surrounded by family. Visitation will be 10:00 am – 12:00 pm Saturday October 7, 2023 at Rosenbaum Funeral Home in Gibson City. Funeral service will begin at 12:00 noon. Burial will be at Drummer Township Cemetery.

She was born August 19, 1946, in Paxton, Illinois to the late Charles and Eileen Brokate Schutte.

She graduated from Gibson City High School in 1964 and worked in Gibson City until retiring to Florida.   

Beloved wife of the late Robert A. Barnes, and the late David E. Edmonds. She was proceeded in death by her parents, 2 sisters (Connie Jamison & Mary Meyers) and infant brother Charles Edward Schutte Jr.

She is survived by 5 sons: Bob (Mary) Barnes of Chandler, AZ, Michael (Shellie) Barnes of Memphis, TN, Chris (Theresa) Edmonds of Mahomet, IL, Michael (Amy) Edmonds of Phoenix, AZ, Greg Edmonds of Minneapolis, MN and 10 grandchildren including Bobby, Mitchell, Caitlin, Abigail, Jonathan, Kendyl, Chatman, Noah, Samuel, Abby and 2 sisters including Lanora (Mike) Riggle of Florida, Linda Schutte of Florida and 6 great-grandchildren.   

She loved her family and friends.  She enjoyed going to the ocean searching for seashells and collecting rocks and arrowheads from the farm. She looked forward to her morning coffee and enjoyed sipping a cold Pepsi in the afternoon.  Sandy had a tradition of wearing pink every Thursday, a small but meaningful ritual in her life.
