Ruth Hardy

Ruth Ann Hardy, 76, passed away at 5:15 am on June 24, 2023, at Bridge Care Suites in Springfield, Illinois. Graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday July 1st, 2023, at Wiley Cemetery in Colfax, IL.

Ruth was born November 19, 1946, in Hartford, KY the daughter of R.C. and Cova (McManama) Goff. She married Ronald C. Hardy on January 24, 1964, in Saybrook, IL. He preceded her in death on December 9, 2007.

She is survived by her two sons Chris (Leah) Hardy of Springfield, IL, and E. Scott (Stacey) Hardy of Evanston, IL. Four grandchildren, Anna and Eli Hardy of Springfield and Caden and Tucker Hardy of Evanston. Siblings Douglas (Joyce) Goff of Gibson City and Thomas (Dorothy) Goff of Tuscola. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Sue Whitmer and two brothers Kendall and Bobby Goff.

Ruth grew up in Gibson City. She was a hair stylist and owned her own hair salon for many years, later working side by side with her husband at Hardy Insurance Services. She enjoyed spending time with family, Sunday dinners and keeping up with the grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling, particularly her Airstream journeys to Florida, long walks, gardening, and her daily visits to Starbucks where everyone knew her name. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
