Roger Smith

Roger A. Smith, 79, of Gibson City peacefully passed away at home on Friday August 28, 2020. His celebration of Life Open House will be held 11:00 am - 2:00 pm Saturday October 17, 2020 at the Lee Lowery American Legion Post #568 in Gibson City. Military rites will be accorded at 12:00 noon at the Legion Hall. Friends are invited to attend and share memories with the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lee Lowery American Legion Post #568 or to Humane Society of Central Illinois.

Roger was born August 1, 1941 in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. A son of Elmer and Julia Gustafson Smith. He was a United States Army Veteran. Roger was a union laborer and built bridges all over the country. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Roger is survived by four sisters Karen (Steve) Seltveit of Morton, Janet (Mel) Sagmo of Waubun, MN. Carol (Oliver) Hanson of Mendota Heights, MN and Susan (Rich) Just of Detroit Lakes MN several nieces and nephews and special friend Sharon Collings of Gibson City. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Rick Smith of Fargo, ND, and a niece Kimberly Seltveit.
