Roby David Neece

Roby David Neece, 74, of Sibley formerly of Virginia peacefully passed away at 8:12 am Saturday August 26, 2023 in the comfort of his home and with his best friend at his side. Celebration of Life service will be held 11:00am Saturday September 9, 2023 at the First Baptist Church in Gibson City with Pastor Dale Tripp officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the family or to his church.

David, as he was better known as was born April 24, 1949 in Newhall, West Virginia. A son of Elijah Richard Neece and Edna Lee (Puckett) Neece. In the eyes of God and with friends he married his best friend Mary DeWinter on August 19, 2023 in Gibson City.

He is survived by his wife Mary DeWinter of Sibley.  Two children John Neece of Bluefield, Virginia and Shannon Neece of Bluefield, Virginia and Josh Neece and Jessie Neece whom he adopted and raised as his own. Five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He also loved Mary’s daughter Nicole and her husband Vince PanePinto and their three children of Streator. Three siblings Ernie (Janice) Neece, Sharon (Al) Altizer and Janice (Verne) Borel all of Bluefield, Virginia. He was preceded in death by a sister Joyce McFarland and a brother Steve Neece.

David was a member of The First Baptist Church of Gibson City. He retired from the United States Navy after 30 years of dedicated service. After retirement David enjoyed hunting and fishing. He will be missed.
