Robert E. "Fats" Leisure, 83, of Gibson City passed away at 2:24 pm Thursday September 2, 2021 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. Visitation will be held 12:00-1:00 pm Saturday September 11, 2021 at Rosenbaum Funeral Home in Gibson City. A Celebration of Life will follow at 1:00 pm with Pastor Gary Fairchild officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
Bob was born April 7, 1938 in Dawson Springs, Kentucky a son of James and June Thomas Leisure. He married Carol Anne Ackermann on September 18, 1965 in Sibley. She passed away on March 18, 2021. He is survived by his son Rob (Misty) Leisure of Chenoa. Three grandchildren - Maison, Braedyn and Anisten. Three brothers - Ray (Royce Ann) Leisure of Gibson City, Rich (Bobbi) Leisure of St. Joe and John Leisure of Gibson City as well as his fur baby Minnie. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
"Fats" as he was best known as worked at Stokely's Van Camp in Gibson City for many years. He then became a bus driver for GCMS. He truly loved each and every one of his passengers, making sure they arrived to school safely and back home. He did this for twenty years and enjoyed every minute of it. He also loved to tinker and rebuild engines and lawn mowers. He was a member of the Farm Bureau and enjoyed western movies. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
