Nancy List

Nancy S. List, 82, of Gibson City peacefully passed away at 9:36 am Thursday February 9, 2023 at the Gibson Area Hospital Annex in Gibson City. Visitation will be held 10:00am-12:00pm Saturday February 11, 2023 at the American Evangelical Lutheran Church in Gibson City followed by a Celebration of Nancy’s Life beginning at 12:00 pm. Pastor Dave Castner officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Lutheran Social Services or The Activity Program at Gibson Area Hospital – Annex.

Nancy was born August 12, 1940 in Columbia, Kentucky. A daughter of Edwin B. and Lula Mae (Kimbler) Conover. She married Jerry McCreary in May of 1963 in Paxton. She later married John Kafer in June of 1972 in Thawville he passed away in March of 1980.

She is survived by two children Audrey McCreary of Loda and Aaron (Meghan) Kafer of Fisher. Four grandchildren Timothy Boehme and True Boehme of Loda; Taylor Kafer of San Diego, California and Alexandria Kafer of Tampa, Florida and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter Adelle McCreary and two brothers Russel Conover and Ron Conover.

Nancy was a secretary at M&W Gear Company in Gibson City, Hick’s Gas in Roberts and for Charles Dewey Incorporated where she retired from. Nancy was a dedicated member of the American Evangelical Lutheran Church of Gibson City, was on the church board and taught Sunday school. She was a talented painter and shared her creations with family and friends and created many designs that were used for A.C.T. Productions. Nancy was always giving of herself to do good in the community volunteering with the Gibson Area Hospital Auxiliary, Home Extension and the annual city-wide clean-up day. Her gentle touch and beautiful smile will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
