Marilyn J. Gudenrath, 90, of Normal, Illinois peacefully passed away at her home at Mercy Creek. A private family burial was held at the Melvin Cemetery in Melvin, Illinois with Pastor Micah Klemme officiating. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Peter’s Free Lutheran Church in Melvin or to the Melvin Public Library.
Marilyn was born April 12, 1932 in Sibley, Illinois a daughter to Alonzo and Ida Brucker Leenerman. She married Lewis John Steinman on October 7, 1951. He preceded her in death. She later married Dale Gudenrath on January 9, 1977. He preceded her in death. She is survived by two children Deb Steinman of Normal and Steve (Melissa) Steinman of Bloomington. Three stepchildren Richard Gudenrath, Jon (Galyn) Gudenrath and Tony (Lora) Gudenrath. Eight grandchildren Matthew (Anne) Steinman, Amy (Daniel) Matre, Jack (Stephanie) Steinman, Anna (Torben Philip) Gudenrath, Kathleen Steinman, Michael Gudenrath, Cody Gudenrath and Sara Gudenrath. Also, four great grandchildren Kaelyn Steinman, Alexa Steinman, Anthony Matre and Nicholas Matre. She was preceded in death by her siblings Arthur Leenerman, Pauline Ogan and Yvonne Smith.
Marilyn worked at Gibson Federal Savings and Loan for many years, she retired in 1981. She enjoyed knitting and quilting. She knitted many infant hats with love over the years for the Carle Hospital NICU.
