Linda Martin

Linda M. Martin, 72, of Gibson City peacefully passed away at 12:15 am Thursday July 13, 2023 at home with her husband by her side. She was welcomed into heaven with open arms by her daughter Brooke.

Visitation will be held 10:00 am – 12:00 pm Thursday July 20, 2023 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Gibson City. Funeral services will follow beginning at 12:00 noon with Deacon Paul Sarantakos officiating. Burial will be at Drummer Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Carle Hospice of Bloomington or to St. Jude’s Children Hospital. Rosenbaum Funeral Home in Gibson City is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Linda was born April 2, 1951 in Fairbury. A daughter of Francis B. and Adele M. Shaddle Anderson. She married John C. Martin on August 14, 1971 in Fairbury.

She is survived by her husband and best friend John Martin of Gibson City. Her three siblings Kay (Audris Griffith) Anderson of Taos, New Mexico; Mark Anderson of Downingtown, PA and Eric (Kristin) Anderson of Mackinaw. She was preceded in death by her daughter Brooke, her parents, a brother Steve Anderson and sister-in-law Cheryl Anderson.

Linda retired from State Farm Insurance Company in Bloomington after twenty-four years of dedicated service. She obtained her realtor license and was diligent in helping employees find a home to relocate and work for the company. At one time Linda worked at Champion Federal in Gibson City and Central Soya.

She was a dedicated and faithful member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. After retirement Linda enjoyed volunteering at Moyer District Library and Shepherd’s Closet in Gibson City. She was an avid reader but found the greatest enjoyment shopping for bargains and spending time with family. She will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved her.
