Karen Bode

Karen J. Bode, 59, of Gibson City peacefully passed away at 1:32 am Friday March 3, 2023 at Carle Foundation Hospital. Visitation will be held 9:30am-11:00am Saturday April 15, 2023 at Rosenbaum Funeral Home in Gibson City followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 11:00am with Deacon John Leonard Officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the family or your favorite animal rescue.

Karen was born January 17, 1964 in Gibson City, a daughter to James D. and Ella E. (Rainwater) Tice. She married James E. Bode on September 25, 1982 in Gibson City.

She is survived by her husband of forty years, James Bode of Gibson City; three children, Heather Bode of Gibson City, Ashley (Kyle Richardson) Bode of Rantoul, and Nick (Rebecca Ray) Bode of Champaign; her parents, James and Ella Tice of Gibson City; her brother Daniel (Jackie) Tice of Gibson City; and her beloved one-year-old fur baby Gracie.

Karen was happiest bragging to everyone she met about her three children. She enjoyed time at home with her husband Jim and dabbled with interior design, turning their house into a cozy home. She could often be found watching “In the Heat of the Night”, listening loudly to music by Chicago or tending to her Longaberger Baskets and Precious Moments collections. She most recently worked as a receptionist for the City of Gibson and Dr. Kenneth Renner where she made lifelong friends. She will forever be remembered for her kindness and sweet personality. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
