Joyce Eichelberger

Joyce M. Eichelberger, 90, of Gibson City peacefully passed away at 10:51 p.m. on Friday, July 14, 2023 at Goldwater Care of Gibson City. Graveside Services will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, August 3, 2023 at East Bend Memorial Gardens with Pastor Luke Rosenberger officiating. Memorial contributions can be made to the East Bend Mennonite Church.

Joyce was born October 10, 1932 in Dix Township. A Daughter of John and Emma Baecher Zimmerman. She married Edward Eichelberger on December 3, 1982 in Fisher. He preceded her in death on January 13, 2020.

She is survived by her three step children Susan (George) Bales of Fisher, Jeanne (Stanley) Sloat of Fisher, and Jim (Chelle) Eichelberger of Rantoul. She was also preceded in death by her parents.

Joyce worked as a court reporter at Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul for 37 years, where she received awards and was often recognized for her accuracy in transcription. In her retirement she loved to travel. She was a member of the Illinois Women’s Missionary and Service Commission where she had held office as secretary. Joyce also was a member of the Red Hat Society and of East Bend Mennonite Church. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
