John Vincent “JV” Sheppelman, 91, of Savoy formerly of Gibson City peacefully passed away at 7:01 pm Thursday July 6, 2023 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. A Masonic service will be held at 9:30am Tuesday July 11, 2023 at Rosenbaum Funeral Home followed by visitation until 11:00am. Funeral services will begin at 11:00am with Pastor Bob Frank officiating. Burial with military rites will take place at Drummer Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Childrens Hospital, Moore’s Rescue Ranch or Trinity Lutheran Church of Urbana.

John was born February 29, 1932 at home in Cropsey. A son of John F. and Laura E. Ringler Sheppelman. He married Amelia C. Hansen on June 8, 1952 in Gibson City, she preceded him in death on March 8, 1992. He later married Susan J. Walker on October 7, 1995 in Urbana.

He is survived by his wife Susan Sheppelman of Savoy. Three daughters Cindy (Earl) Meister of Mt. Prospect; Becky Allen and Lori Sheppelman of Champaign. Two granddaughters Brianna Meister of Mt. Prospect and Glenna Meister of Cambridge, MA and a sister Vivian Jordan of Onarga. He was preceded in death by a sister Elvera Sheppelman.

John was a 1950 graduate of Drummer Township High School. He is a United States Army Veteran. He farmed for over forty years. He was president of Sun Ray Boats in Paxton for many years and then operated the Fiberglass Shop in Paxton. He was also president of the Gibson City Nursing Home for many years and served on the Roberts-Thawville Board of Education as well as Ford Central High School. He was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Gibson City and was currently attending the Trinity Lutheran Church in Savoy. He was a member of the I & I Antique Tractor Club.
