GERALD M. OSBORN departed this life to be with his Savior on December 16, 2020, after battling the complications of COVID-19. He was born on September 25, 1934, and spent his entire 86 years in Gibson City, Illinois.
He attended Illinois School for the Deaf in Jacksonville, Illinois, and remained active for many years with their alumni activities.
A strong work ethic led him to a long and successful career at the Stokely Van Camp canning factory in Gibson City. In later years he was a part-time employee at the City Hall, and many will remember him for his infectious smile and helpfulness when he worked at Ace Hardware.
As his hobby, Jerry was fascinated with railroads and train cars. He frequently attended train shows and had an elaborate model train layout covering more than 100 square feet upstairs at his home.
He is survived by two nieces: Penny (Bob) Moll and Pam (Ron) Sheely, as well as several great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett W. Osborn, Sr. and Essie (nee Martin); by his brother, Everett W. Osborn, Jr., and by two infant sisters.
Private graveside services will be conducted.
