David Thornton

David Thornton, 77, of Fisher passed away at 10:15 a.m. on Sunday October 29, 2023 at Goldwater Care in Danville. Graveside Services will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday November 9, 2023 at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Foosland. Memorial Contributions can be made to Feed the Children.

David was born on September 24, 1946 in Marshalltown, Iowa a son of Lloyd and Geraldine Randall Thornton. He married Edith Thornton on May 25, 1985 in Fisher. She passed away on February 22, 2005.

Surviving are his four children; Alan (Ruby) Potter, Shelly (Clarence) Ralph, Trish Potter, and Brandy (Jason) Duppel. Also surviving are many grandchildren, a great grandchild and his long-time friend and mother of his children Sandra Thornton. He was preceded in death by his wife Edith and his parents.

He was a long-time resident of Fisher and was a friend to many in the Community and enjoyed to support the Fisher Bunnie Football team. David was a fishing and racing fanatic. He loved to watch Nascar and especially Modified Dirt Track Racing. He spent many nights at the Farmer City Racetrack and considered it his home away from home.
