Michael Rexroat

Michael J. "Riff" Rexroat, 66, of Melvin passed away at 7:14 am Friday October 8, 2021 at Carle Foundation Hospital with his family at his side.

Michael was born August 16, 1955 in Paxton, IL a son of Wayne and Carol Miller Rexroat. He is survived by his two sons: Bradley (Chrystal) Rexroat of Oak Park, IL and their 2 daughters, Addison and Hadley, Ryan (Paige) Rexroat of Gibson City and their daughter Ava.  His brother Robert “Bosco” Rexroat of Gibson City, IL and sister Rhonda Rexroat of Dothan, AL and her family survive. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Celebration of Life will be held 5:00-8:00 pm Monday October 11, 2021 at the Melvin Community Building in Melvin, IL with a Memorial Ride to be held on Saturday October 16, 2021 beginning at noon in Sibley, IL to celebrate his love of motorcycles and friends.Memorial contributions may be made to the family of Mike Rexroat.  All contributions will be added to the college funds he had established for his 3 granddaughters that he loved so much.

Riff, as he was affectionately known, was very dedicated to his work. He was a long time truck driver working for Ford Grain Company, Richard Tarvin Trucking, Alliance Grain Company, MUTI and lastly for Rexroat Transport. If he wasn't working, he was working on something-a truck, car or motorcycle. If it had chrome, he was polishing it, not once but twice. He loved to ride his Harley and make friends along the way. He never met a stranger and was a great story teller. He had a smile that would light up a room and lived life to the fullest. He will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved him.
