Gordon W. Bane Jr. 78, of Bloomington formerly of Gibson City passed away Thursday April 21, 2022 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Visitation will be held 12:00pm-1:00pm Friday April 29, 2022 at Rosenbaum Funeral Home in Gibson City. A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 1:00 pm with Pastor Gary Fairchild officiating. Burial will be in Drummer Township Cemetery with full military honors accorded by the Lee Lowery American Legion Post #568. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
Mr. Bane was born January 7, 1944 in Bloomington a son of Gordon W. and Zelma Holler Bane Sr.
He is survived by two sons James (Beth) Bane of Beavercreek, Ohio and Gordon W. "Dusty" (Bethany) Bane III of Bloomington. Four grandchildren Danielle Bane, Jordan (Josh) Umphrey, Sophia Bane and Riley Bane. Four sisters Jan Barnes of Foosland, Barbara Frederick of Birmingham, Alabama; Patsy (Duane) Askew of Wausau, Wisconsin and Carolyn (Richard) Larson of Frankfort. Many nieces, nephews and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters Dixie Thomas, Melody Cochran and Shirley Benison.
Gordy as he was affectionately known was a proud retired United Sates Army Veteran serving twenty years. After his military service he worked for Cargill in Bloomington for fifteen years. He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW. He was always reading about military history or watching documentaries on the television. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
