Glenn E. Wurmnest, 70, of Fisher peacefully passed away at 4:27 am Sunday May 15, 2022 at his home in Fisher surrounded by his loving family. A rosary will be recited at 4:30 pm Friday May 20, 2022 at Rosenbaum Funeral Home in Gibson City. Visitation will follow until 7:00 pm. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 am Saturday May 21, 2022 at Rosenbaum Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Fairchild officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Sibley. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Rose Catholic Church - Strawn or to Gibson Area Hospital.
Glenn was born April 4, 1952 in Fairbury a son of Sylvester J. and Mary A. (Lawless) Wurmnest.
He is survived by his two sons that he was very proud of Brad (Tanya Brownfield) Wurmnest of Urbana and Drew Wurmnest of Champaign. And his precious grandson Lyden. Also, five siblings Raymond (Dori) Wurmnest of Bloomington, James (Bonnie) Wurmnest of Sibley, Sharon (Dave) Jones of Champaign, Ann (John) Carlson of Joplin, MO and Angie (Randall) Hansen of Portland, OR. Fourteen nieces and nephews as well as seventeen great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Tom.
Glenn was owner of Wurmnest Construction of Fisher. He was a gifted man, working on homes, making them better inside and out. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed golfing and watching The St. Louis Cardinals. His true passion was working and helping other people. He touched many lives and will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
