David Gentry, 55, of Taft, Tennessee formerly of Saybrook and LeRoy died suddenly in Huntsville, Alabama on January 31, 2019. He and his wife Crystal had recently relocated to Taft, Tennessee. A celebration of David's life will be held at 11:00 am Saturday February 9, 2019 at Rosenbaum Funeral Home, 925 North Route 47 in Gibson City. Pastor Dave Hohulin will officiate. A visitation will be held Friday February 8, 2019 from 5:00-7:00 pm also at the funeral home.
David was born June 18, 1963 in Bloomington, a son of Bentley J. and Ruth Wanda Payne Gentry. He married Crystal Benningfield on June 14, 2008 in Bloomington. She survives. Also surviving are his children- Anthony Gentry and Benjamin Gentry of Bloomington, Cassandra (Logan) Wilson of Roberts, Timothy Benningfield of Gibson City and Stephanie Harris of Bloomington. Ten grandchildren Brynlee, Isabella, Kiara, DeQuon, Kellen, Chase, Anja, Bentley, Cambrie and Aubrie. His parents Bentley and Wanda Gentry of Washington, IL; brother- Darrell (Pam) Gentry of Tremont and a sister Cathy (Mike) Kobylarz of Peoria Heights. Also many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
David proudly served in the United States Army for eight years during Desert Storm. He was a member of the American Legion and the Heartland Mopar Club.
Memorial contributions may be made to The Wounded Warriors Project or to the Shriners Children's Hospital.
